A cheese sandwich is always welcome, but it gets a bit boring after a while, doesn't it? Have you ever considered other sandwich-toast recipes?
Pizza dough
With pizza dough, you can do anything. With the dough and toppings, you can make the most delicious mini pizzas, calzones, pizza rolls, sausage rolls, and garlic rolls.
Croissant dough
With croissant dough, you can make small sweet rolls, filled croissants, or a savory version with bacon and syrup. Cherry parcels with powdered sugar or custard filling. Not to mention sausage rolls, mini ham and cheese croissants, and tartlets. Doesn't the latter resemble pizza? True! But with a different kind of crust. Savory croissant with salami or salmon and croissant sticks. We didn't come up with the latter ourselves, and you can check it out here.
Sweet
Cookies and a small brownie, toast with sweetened cherries and marshmallows, sweet pastries with blueberries, there are plenty of variations to be found!
Savoury
Potato gratin, nachos and flatbread.
Use the sandwich iron as a mini skillet
Place the irons individually in the fire and use them as mini-skillets. Bake pancakes, hamburgers, fried eggs, s'mores, and much more.
One of the advantages of the sandwich iron is that you can easily flip it over to heat the other side. Just keep in mind that you don't need to flip all of these dishes. :-)
