Baking syrup waffles!

Stroopwafels bakken!

Baking syrup waffles is fun!
It already starts with making the dough, because that's when those delicious smells come to meet you.

As with all cast iron, temperature is key. While making your dough, you can preheat the stroopwafel iron. Read: preheat. Don't overheat, or it will burn, which is a real shame. We were happy to test the stroopwafel iron for you.

How much dough do I need?

Gram of dough Stroopwafel size
75 g 12 cm
150 g 15 cm
175 g 18 cm - As big as our iron

Method

1. Preheat the syrup waffle iron and prepare the dough according to the recipe or package.

2. Make dough balls to the desired size.

3. Grease! Make sure the waffle iron is greased on both sides with a neutral oil.

4. Place a ball of dough in the center of the iron and close the iron well and heat until the dough starts to bake.

5. After about 2 minutes, carefully turn the iron over and check if it's browning. The more often you open the iron, the less visible the pattern will be.

6. Remove the iron from the heat when both sides are golden brown.

7. While the cake is still warm, cut it horizontally with a sharp knife and top with a generous spoonful of syrup. Place the top of the cake on the syrup and let it cool briefly before tasting.

8. Again! Re-grease the iron and start with the next ball.

It is important to cut the stroopwafel open while it is hot, otherwise the waffle will harden and you won't be able to get it the way you want.

Have fun baking!
