With Oktoberfest just around the corner, a currywurst recipe is a must. Oktoberfest runs from the first Saturday after September 15th until the first Sunday of October. So, the festival takes place mostly in September. Confusing? A little, but we do have a fun festival and plenty of delicious dishes to think of. Supplies
- vegetable oil 1 tbsp
- ½ onion, chopped
- 1 clove of garlic
- 1 tbsp curry spices
- 50 ml hot water
- 250 ml Heinz ketchup
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tbsp honey
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 pinch of ground cinnamon
- Freshly ground pepper
- 600g German cooked sausages

Extra needed
- Saucepan
- Optional: a hand blender
Preparation method:
- Heat the oil in the saucepan and fry the finely chopped onion until translucent.
- Add the chopped garlic and curry spices and stir well.
- Then add the hot water.
- Add the ketchup, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and honey and stir well again.
- Season with salt, pepper and a pinch of ground cinnamon and stir again.
- Simmer gently over low heat with the lid closed for 15 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent the sauce from burning.
- For a smooth sauce, blend it with an immersion blender.
- Heat the sausages on the barbecue or grill, or in a skillet with a little oil, until golden brown. Slice them and serve with the curry sauce sprinkled with curry spices.
