Ingredients 6 pieces
- 125 ml (semi-skimmed) milk
- 125 ml water
- 175 g flour
- 1 sachet of dry yeast (7g)
- 1 bag of vanilla sugar (8g)
- 5 grams of unsalted butter
- 1 egg
- Good pinch of salt (about ¼ tsp)
- 25 ml peanut oil (1.5 tbsp)
- Your favorite ice cream
- Cream
- Summer fruits, such as strawberries and bananas
Extra needed
- Waffle iron
- Saucepan
- 2 Mixing bowls (spotlessly clean)
- Guard
- Mixer
Preparation method
- Heat the saucepan and add the milk and water until lukewarm. Add the flour, yeast, and vanilla sugar to the mixing bowl. Pour in the milk while stirring. Whisk until the batter is smooth.
- Rinse the saucepan, dry it slightly, and reheat. Melt the butter in the saucepan. Be careful not to brown it. Remove from the heat once half of the butter has melted. The rest will melt naturally. Separate the egg. Add the yolk and salt to the batter. Whisk in the melted butter.
- Beat the egg whites in a grease-free bowl with a mixer fitted with clean beaters until stiff peaks form, 4-5 minutes. Fold into the batter. Cover with a clean tea towel and let rise in a warm place for 45 minutes.
- Heat the waffle iron. Grease it with oil. Spoon a generous amount of batter onto the iron and close the lid. Bake the waffles for 5 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through, turning halfway through. Check the waffles after 5 minutes to see if they are golden brown.
- Serve with fresh fruit, ice cream and whipped cream.
