Béchamel sauce is one of the easiest sauces to make. Prefer a cheese sauce? Add an extra splash of milk and grated cheese.
Ingredients
- 250ml milk
- 25g flour
- 25g butter
- Salt/pepper to taste
Extra needed
- Saucepan
- Wooden spoon or silicone spatula
Preparation method
- Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat. Don't let it brown.
- Add the flour and stir well. It will now form a lumpy mixture called a roux. Let this warm for 1-2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add the milk and stir well, then season with salt and pepper.
If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of milk and stir until it's absorbed.
