Camping cooking

Vacation is just around the corner, the perfect time to further develop your hobby—or rather, your lifestyle. Outdoor cooking can be done in many ways. Back to basics with a campfire, the well-known chuckwagon cooking, cooking on a fire pit, using your Camp Stove, or in the back of the garden, for example, on your Weber or Bastard barbecue.

Take your time
When you're cooking outdoors, it's okay to take a little longer than you're used to. The term "slow cooking" exists for a reason. So... fold out those folding chairs, put your feet up, and pour yourself a drink first. Unless you still have to catch dinner, you can sit back and relax for a while.

Small and lightweight
For many, the complete barbecue equipment no longer fits between coffee pots and crates of beer, and a smaller one can be brought along. So, if you have a small barbecue, adjust your accessories accordingly. For example, use the mini skillet or skillet regular, the BBQ pan small, the saucepan or the baking dish.

Open fire vs. camping
Before you start buying products in bulk, always check if open fires are permitted at your campsite. The Camp Stove is perfectly fine at many campsites, as there are no open flames. Moreover, you can also use the camp stove as a grill or griddle if you have the accessories. Read all about the Camp Stove here .

Another small, general tip: Be careful during prolonged droughts, by Dutch standards. You don't want a natural disaster named after you, do you?

Are open fires allowed?
Then you can really go wild! At least, if you've found a spot to bring a fire bowl, barbecue, or fire table. In Scandinavia, you'll find many places where campfires are permitted, and even campfire sites are set up specifically for making fire. Here, you can get to work with your daily dose of cast iron.

Cast iron accessories
Cast iron accessories like the poffertjes pan , waffle iron, and syrup waffle iron are also great to have. Another tip : Poffertjes mix isn't always available abroad, although you can make it yourself.

Sandwich iron, more than just toasted sandwiches!
The sandwich iron is also a fun and handy tool to take with you. Because it offers so many possibilities, we've already written a blog post about it. What can you do with the sandwich iron? Sandwich irons come in two versions: with long or short handles.

Still have some space?
If you have any spare time, grab your favorite charcoal or briquettes!
