      Farmers cake from the Dutch Oven

      Recipe: Boerenjongens Cake from the Dutch Oven

      Ingredients

      • 200 g flour
      • 10 g baking powder
      • 200 g light brown sugar
      • 200 g butter
      • 4 eggs
      • 6 g salt
      • 300 g Boerenjongens (drained)
      • 40 g syrup from the Boerenjongens

      Instructions

      1. Cream the sugar and butter until light and fluffy.
      2. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well to keep the mixture airy.
      3. Sift the flour with baking powder and salt, then fold into the mixture.
      4. Mix the Boerenjongens and their syrup into the batter.
      5. Pour the batter into a Dutch Oven lined with baking paper.
      6. Bake at 150°C for about 40 minutes.
